What is a Garage Sale Registration?
The City of San Ramon encourages residents to host garage sales as a great way to recycle your unwanted household items and make money while doing it. To assist residents in preparing for their garage sales the City Council adopted new regulations for advertising and conducting garage sales. The new regulations require a no-fee registration.
Registration is simple and easy. You need to complete the Garage Sale Registration Form and submit it to the Planning Services Division by Thursday 4:00 p.m. prior to your scheduled garage sale. If you would like, the City will advertise your garage sale on our website. The completed Registration Form can be submitted either by mail, e-mail, phone, fax or in person at the Planning Services Division.
Garage Sale: The temporary sale of used and recycled household or personal articles held on the seller’s own residential premises, also referred to as a yard sale, rummage sale, or any similar designation
Garage Sale, Community: An organized garage sale by more than three residents within 300 feet from each other on the same day.

The maximum size of a garage sale sign shall be six (6) square feet and maximum three (3) feet in height or width. A garage sale sign needs to have an address, and the date and time of the event. An arrow may be added.
No sign shall be posted on street light posts, sidewalk, traffic signal posts, or any other public right-of-ways. Signs shall be posted on private properties with permission from the property owners.
