Each year, the San Ramon City Council participates in a goal-setting workshop, during which the Council reviews and revises its goals for the upcoming fiscal year (July 1–June 30).

Below are the Goals for the 2025–26 Fiscal Year.

Goal #1: Maintain a Safe and Secure Environment 

  • Objective #1: Complete MRG Assessment
  • Objective #2: Enhance departmental technological capabilities to improve efficiency
  • Objective #3: Increase public engagement

Goal #2: Maintain a Secure Financial Base

  • Objective #1: Evaluate reserve policy requirement (36%) and alternatives
  • Objective #2: Enhance financial forecasting
  • Objective #3: Evaluate financial policies related to pre-funding pensions, retiree benefits, and deferred maintenance

Goal #3: Provide Cost Effective and Responsive Services to Sustain Quality of Life

  • Objective #1: Evaluate current Committees, Commissions, and Boards’ bylaws
  • Objective #2: Elevate Risk Management program by providing both public and Council briefings on program performance
  • Objective #3: Enumerate norms/values for Council, Committees, Commissions, and Boards expectations and formalize commitments

Goal #4: Build and Maintain Quality Facilities and Infrastructure

  • Objective #1: Implement Phases 1 & 2 of Crow Canyon Garden Renovation
  • Objective #2: Develop a Forest Home Farms Renovation Plan
  • Objective #3: Adopt a Citywide Fiber Master Plan

Goal #5: Enhance Engagement and Communication with Residents and Business Community

  • Objective #1: Expand constituent engagement and community relations services
  • Objective #2: Replace the current Client Request Management (CRM) system for resident requests
  • Objective #3: Develop a communications plan for Measure N (TUT) funding uses and city financial outlook 

Goal #6: Balance Land Use Planning for Housing, Retail, Jobs and Open Space

  • Objective #1 Process Development Applications for Orchards
  • Objective #2 Develop a framework for Climate Action Plan implementation
  • Objective #3: Adopt 2025 Building Codes including local amendments
