COOLING CENTERS AND HEAT ILLNESS

Even short periods of high temperatures can cause serious health problems. Know the symptoms of heat disorders and overexposure to the sun and be ready to give first aid treatment. Call 911 if you or someone near you is having a health emergency.

OPEN FACILITIES

The City of San Ramon offers facilities that are open to the public and can be used to cool down during extreme heat.

COOLING CENTER EXTENDED HOURS

In the case of extreme heat, Cooling Centers may extend hours in order to provide cooling relief to the public. General guidelines for extended hours may include:

  1. National Weather Service heat advisory of three or more consecutive days
  2. Temperatures of 100°F or greater for three or more consecutive days
  3. Abnormal increase in medical emergencies due to the heat
  4. Brown Outs or full electrical outages
  5. At the discretion of City Management for the health and safety of San Ramon residents
