New Location! Dougherty Station Community Arts Center
Join us Sunday, January 26 from noon to 4 p.m. at Dougherty Station Community Arts Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon) for Culture in the Community!
This exciting event will feature multicultural performances, music, art, and activities from around the world. Watch as the Dougherty Station Community Arts Center comes alive with international performances, cultural booths, children's activities, interactive arts workshops, and passports.
The event is free and open to all ages!

Upcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training
San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District is pleased to offer Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training this month!
Pre-registration is required, and is now open for the first classes of 2025!
CERT Training Academy
27 Hour Course
Jan 25, 26 & Feb 1
8 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates and prepares participants to actively respond in the
event of a disaster that may impact our area.
CERT is designed and intended for participants to learn basic disaster response skills and how to use these skills to help
themselves, their neighbors, and their broader community in a time of need when first responders may be overwhelmed.
During this FREE hands-on course CERT trainees will learn:
● Disaster Preparedness
● Fire Safety
● Disaster Medical Operations and Triage
● Light Search and Rescue
● Team Organization
● Disaster Psychology
● Incident Command System
Upon completion of the program, CERT members will have the opportunity to participate in periodic neighborhood area activities and ongoing training and events to leverage and refresh the skills learned in the course now and into the future.

Lunar New Year Celebration at City Center
Sunday, February 2 from 2–4 p.m.
Join San Ramon's fourth annual Lunar New Year celebration on Sunday, February 2 from 2–4 p.m. at City Center. This free event will feature dance performances, lion dancers, kung fu demonstration and more.
San Ramon Valley Street Smarts presents
20th Annual "Be Reel!" Video Contest for Middle & High School Students
Submission Deadline: Thursday, January 30 at 4 p.m.
The San Ramon Valley Street Smarts program is hosting the 20th Annual “Be Reel!” Video Contest, inviting middle and high school students to unleash their creativity while promoting traffic safety.
This year’s theme is “Safety First!” Students are encouraged to create public service announcement videos that educate the community about important traffic safety issues.
Exciting Prizes Await!
High school participants (divided among up to 4 team members) can compete for the following prizes:
- 1st Prize: $300 in Amazon Gift Cards
- 2nd Prize: $200 in Amazon Gift Cards
- 3rd Prize: $100 in Amazon Gift Cards
Middle school participants can also win exciting prizes:
- 1st Prize: $300 in Amazon Gift Cards
- 2nd Prize: $200 in Amazon Gift Cards
- 3rd Prize: $100 in Amazon Gift Cards
The contest is open to all students in grades 6–12, and provides an excellent platform to educate the community on traffic safety. The winning videos will be shared online and showcased at San Ramon Valley Elementary and Middle School Traffic Safety Education Assemblies.
Submission Deadline: 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
This is a fantastic opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to make a positive impact in their community while having fun and competing for amazing prizes!

Plantify Speaker Event

San Ramon Community Center
San Ramon is home to some amazing open space! Join the Open Space Advisory Committee on Saturday, February 1 at the San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd, San Ramon, CA 94583), where a guest speaker from Plantify will speak from 9–11 a.m. on native ecological history of the area and how everyday people can be good stewards of these natural areas, even from our urban and suburban areas.

Front Row Theatre at Dougherty Station Community Arts Center
Chosen as the "Best way to culturally globe-trot on Friday nights" by Diablo Magazine, the San Ramon Friday Foreign Film Series returns in February 2025.
This year the series will focus on foreign cinema directed by women with films from China, India, Japan and Republic of Kosovo.
Each screening will be followed by a group conversation led by a moderator.

DSRSD Wastewater Treatment Facility Tours
Thursday, February 13 at 9:30 a.m.
Join a tour of DSRSD’s regional wastewater treatment facility and learn how DSRSD cleans and treats 13 million gallons of wastewater each day!
The next public tour takes place on Thursday, February 13 at 9:30 a.m. and is accepting registrations from DSRSD customers.
Tours are approximately 90 minutes long and are open to participants over the age of 10.
Tours take place at the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (7399 Johnson Drive, Pleasanton).

Tri-Valley Water Conservation Art Contest
Submissions Due March 3
K-12 students in the Tri-Valley, including those living or attending school in DSRSD’s Dougherty Valley service area, are eligible to enter the first annual Tri-Valley Water Conservation Art Contest for K-12th-grade students.
This year’s theme, “Habitat Heroes: Transforming Lawns into Vibrant Native Gardens”, encourages students to let their imagination “go wild” by creating artwork showcasing how replacing thirsty lawns with California native plants can conserve water, support biodiversity, and build healthier habitats. Submissions may include photography, painting, digital artwork, and more!
Artwork must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, March 3.

The 2025 Winter Walk Challenge Has Begun!
511 Contra Costa's annual Winter Walk Challenge began on January 13, 2025.
From now through March, participants will receive a weekly “Walk Challenge” where participants are asked to submit a selfie or photo to earn entry into the weekly drawings. Each Monday, 10 participants will be selected for a $20 Amazon gift card, and will automatically be entered into the drawing for the iPad Grand Prize!
