Planned Partial Weekend Closures of I-680 South
Friday, October 18–Monday, October 21
Caltrans has scheduled a partial closure of southbound Interstate 680 between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton Friday, October 18 through Monday morning, October 21.
Three right lanes of southbound Interstate 680 will be closed between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and the I-580/I-680 Connector in Pleasanton from 9 p.m. Friday, October 18 through 4 a.m. Monday morning, October 21.
Two left lanes of I-680 will remain open during this closure. However, we encourage motorists to take alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion within the construction work zone on southbound I-680 in the cities of San Ramon and Dublin.
Though lanes will be open, it’s best to avoid the area if possible. If you do access the freeway,
**Please be aware of construction vehicles entering and exiting the construction zone and slow for the Cone Zone.**
During the closures, the contractor will replace a portion of the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680.
Northbound I-680 and I-580/I-680 interchange connector will remain open and will not be affected by the closure.
Caltrans is aware that the closures will impact the motoring public and measures are being taken to minimize inconvenience. Caltrans thanks the motoring public in advance for your patience as they work to improve I-680.
California Highway Patrol officers and message signs will be on hand to guide motorists. Detours for the closures are as follows:
1. Motorists driving west on Interstate 80 in Vacaville and Fairfield will remain on I-80 to southbound I-880.
2. Motorists on southbound I-680 near the Benicia Bridge can take I-780 west to I-80 to southbound I-880.
3. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Concord can take SR-4 to I-80 to southbound I-880 or SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
4. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Walnut Creek can take SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
5. Full Shutdown Locations:
a. Alcosta Blvd. onramp onto southbound I-680
b. Alcosta Blvd. offramp to San Ramon Valley Blvd.
c. San Ramon Valley Blvd. onramp onto southbound I-680

Upcoming Full Closure of Bollinger Canyon Road
November 6–9
Bollinger Canyon Road will be completely closed between Camino Ramon and Market Place from Wednesday, November 6 through Saturday, November 9. Detours will be in place to direct traffic around the construction zone. City Hall and the Marketplace Shopping Center will be open with access from westbound Bollinger Canyon Road.
This roadway closure is required to conduct a critical phase of construction on the Iron Horse Trail Bicycle and Pedestrian Overcrossing, where precast concrete deck panels will be set into the Overcrossing framework. Once this work is complete, the public will see the full Overcrossing base structure. However, the Overcrossing will not be fully completed or open until Summer 2025.
During the road closure period, construction activities will be taking place that require special safety measures, since workers will be using large cranes to lift heavy deck panels of the Overcrossing into place. It will not be safe for vehicles to drive under the over-roadway work.
Pedestrians and bicycles can continue to use the existing sidewalk detour route on the south side of Bollinger Canyon Road. Pedestrian scaffolding has been constructed for protection.

November 2024 General Election: Voting by Mail
Contra Costa County Elections will mail a ballot to every registered voter on October 7. Voted ballots must be postmarked by Election Day or returned to a drop box by 8 p.m. on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5.
Voting by mail is safe, secure, and preferred by most voters. It’s a highly regulated process, with countless checkpoints, people, and systems working together to keep elections secure.
- Ballot envelopes are assigned unique ID numbers to ensure voters only vote once and so voters can track their ballots using BallotTrax
- Ballots are only mailed to registered voters
- Returned ballots are handled with strict chain-of-custody procedures
- The voter’s signature on the ballot return envelope is checked up to three separate times
- Voters will be contacted to “cure” their signature if it’s missing or doesn’t match what’s on file
- A voter’s activity is logged in the elections system, so the Contra Costa Elections Division only counts the first ballot they receive from each voter
Learn more about voting by mail at secure-election.org/facts-voting and check your voter registration status or register to vote at contracostavote.gov.
