The City of San Ramon is launching a new Alarm Registration Program, beginning Friday, July 1, 2022.
The new alarm registration system is aimed at increasing community safety by reducing false alarms, allowing police officers to respond to emergencies and other calls for service. Each year, San Ramon officers respond to anywhere from 2,000 to 3,000 false alarm calls.
Beginning Friday, every San Ramon residence or business with an alarm system must obtain an alarm permit. Permits are free and free annual renewal is required.
Existing alarms must be registered by September 1, 2022. New residential and commercial business alarms must be registered within 30 days of installation.
