What is a General Plan Amendment?
Communities are shaped in many ways. The General Plan, a city’s blueprint for development, guides overall building activities in our City. The San Ramon General Plan, articulates the City’s long-term vision and identifies where land uses are located.
A General Plan Amendment is an application which modifies the text, figures, or graphics contained within the General Plan. This may include, but is not limited to, changes from one General Plan designation to another designation for property within the City.
General Plan Amendment
In 1999, San Ramon voters approved Measure G which requires approval of a General Plan Amendment by a super majority (4 out of 5) members on both the Planning Commission and the City Council. To begin the review process, the project proponent shall submit a General Plan Amendment application with the Planning Services Division in accordance with the General Plan Amendment application guidelines. The review process can be quite lengthy (months) depending upon the project request.
