COOLING CENTERS AND HEAT ILLNESS

Even short periods of high temperatures can cause serious health problems. Know the symptoms of heat disorders and overexposure to the sun and be ready to give first aid treatment. Call 911 if you or someone near you is having a health emergency.

OPEN FACILITIES

The City of San Ramon offers facilities that are open to the public and can be used to cool down during extreme heat.  

AQUATIC CENTERS

LAP SWIM

The San Ramon Olympic Pool (9900 Broadmoor Drive) and the Dougherty Valley Aquatic Center (10550 Albion Drive) offer lap swim at specific hours each day—click here for the latest schedule and fees.

RECREATION SWIM

The San Ramon Olympic Pool (9900 Broadmoor Drive) and the Dougherty Valley Aquatic Center (10550 Albion Drive) offer excellent opportunities to jump in the pool and beat the heat on a warm day. A $8.00 admission fee is charged for all Rec Swim Sessions. Click here for the latest schedule.

 

Community CenTERS

The San Ramon Community Center (12501 Alcosta Blvd) is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm. Closed on July 4.

The Alcosta Senior & Community Center (9300 Alcosta Blvd) is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm. Closed on July 4.

The Dougherty Station Community Arts Center (17011 Bollinger Canyon Road) is open Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. Closed on July 4.

The San Ramon Library (100 Montgomery Street) is open Monday-Thursday from 10:00am-8:00pm and Friday-Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm. Closed on July 4.

The Dougherty Station Library (17017 Bollinger Canyon Road) is open Tuesday-Thursday from 10:00am-8:00pm and Friday-Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm. Closed on July 4.

 

COOLING CENTER EXTENDED HOURS

In the case of extreme heat, Cooling Centers may extend hours in order to provide cooling relief to the public. General guidelines for extended hours may include:

  1. National Weather Service heat advisory of three or more consecutive days
  2. Temperatures of 100°F or greater for three or more consecutive days
  3. Abnormal increase in medical emergencies due to the heat
  4. Brown Outs or full electrical outages
  5. At the discretion of City Management for the health and safety of San Ramon residents

The following facilities will have extended hours the week of July 1-5, 2024:

San Ramon Community Center
Tuesday, July 2 open until 6:00pm
Wednesday, July 3 open until 8:00pm
Thursday, July 4 - CLOSED
Friday, July 5 open until 6:00pm

Alcosta Senior & Community Center
Tuesday, July 2 open until 8:00pm
Wednesday, July 3 open until 8:00pm
Thursday, July 4 - CLOSED
Friday, July 5 open until 6:00pm

Dougherty Station Community Arts Center
Tuesday, July 2 open until 8:00pm
Wednesday, July 3 open until 8:00pm
Thursday, July 4 - CLOSED
Friday, July 5 open until 5:00pm
