History
In 1991, the San Ramon Senior Center Parks and Gardens was constructed as part of the Senior Center Master Plan and opened on April 11, 1992. Phase 1 included an 8,300 square foot building, a 4,000 square feet community garden area which included 78 raised beds. In 1997, a 1,000 square foot addition was added to the southern end of the building adding a pool room and additional square footage to the meeting room.
In June 2001, the Senior Park was completed which included a gazebo, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, croquet, shuffleboard, inlaid games tables, memorial brick pavilion, and two bridges over the natural creek bed connecting the park with the current Senior Center.
In 2008, the final phase of the 1991 Senior Center Master Plan, the South end of the building, was competed. This final phase included a 4,700 square foot addition to the building, remodeling of the existing building, the South end parking lot, and relocation of the Community Gardens.
In 2019, the Alcosta Senior & Community Center underwent a full renovation to update the look, feel, and functionality of the indoor spaces.
The Center is a bustling hub of activity for adults ages 55 and better. It is a place for socialization, fun, and growth. Come visit and you’ll know what we mean!
