Saturdays from 11am to 2pm
Fun on the Farm Activities are FREE* crafts and activities that highlight farm life and the late Victorian era. These Saturday events are an opportunity to step back into history and enjoy the simple things of life. These free Saturday events are a partnership between the City of San Ramon and the San Ramon Historic Foundation.
*Special events hosted by the San Ramon Historic Foundation are fee-based fund-raising programs that require registration and will be indicated as such.
August
August 2 Windmills and Water
Turn a handle and water pours out of the faucet. It wasn’t so easy in the days gone by. Learn how pioneers got their water, pump water with a hand pump, and spot a water tank high above your head. When it takes this much work, you won’t want to waste a drop.
August 9 Soap Making
Learn the art of soap making using natural ingredients and fall scents to make your own soap to take home.
August 16 School Days
It's time to head back to school. Learn what a school day was like in the early 1900's and practice your penmanship with pen and ink.
August 23 Clothespin Superheroes and Dolls
Children have been making clothespin dolls for well over 100 years! Learn more about the history of clothespin dolls and make your own to take home.

September 6 Corn Painting
Nothing goes to waste on the farm. Learn how to use the discarded parts of corn to make art!
September 13 Tractor Day
Learn all about tractors. Take a behind the scenes look at tractor restoration. Tour the tractor museum, see hit and miss engines in action and take a ride on a tractor.
September 20 Wonderful Walnuts
Learn about the history of walnut processing and the inventions Travis Boone contributed. See some old equipment in action and make a fun walnut craft to take
September 27 Apple Pressing
Help press the juice out of apples with an old time apple cider press. Try a taste of the cider and make an apple craft.

October 4 Fall Fest presented by the San Ramon Historic Foundation

October 11 Indigenous Peoples Day
Join us in celebrating our Nation’s first inhabitants and learn about the Tribal Nations that lived in the San Ramon Valley
October 18 Trick or Treat on the Farm
Come in your Halloween costume for a Trick or treat adventure. Travel around the farm to different stations for activities and treats to take home!
October 25 Pumpkins and Gourds
Pumpkins and gourds are a staple of fall decor and harvest treats. Come learn about the many differences and uses of pumpkins and gourds, take home a winter squash recipe and make a gourd craft (one per child).

November 1 *NEW* Wheat Weaving
Come and learn how we use our sunflower stalks in the garden. Enjoy making a sunflower piece of art and eat a few while you are.
November 8 Veteran's Day
Learn the history of this National Holiday and why it is celebrated with red poppies. Create your own red poppy craft to take home or share.
November 15 Era of the Iron Horse
Trains were and are a huge art of transporting food and other goods across the land. Learn the history of our local "iron horse", the current trail, and make a train craft.
November 22 Giving Thanks
This is the time of year where we give thanks. Join us at the farm and make your own placemat using your handprints.

December 6 Victorian Christmas Cards
Learn about the history of Christmas cards and see samples of Victorian Era cards. Make your own to take home.
December 13 Victorian Christmas Cards
Enjoy an old-fashioned holiday gathering at Forest Home Farm Historic Park. Have a traditional holiday family experience including visits with our Victorian Santa, old fashioned ornament making, a puppet show, holiday entertainment and refreshments.
