Upcoming Full Weekend Closure of 680 South Between Alcosta Blvd and 580/680 Connector
Friday, September 20–Monday, September 23

I-680 Closure

Caltrans has planned a full weekend closure of southbound Interstate 680 between Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton from Friday, September 20 through Monday morning, September 23.

Southbound Interstate 680 will be closed between the Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon and I-580/I-680 connector in Pleasanton from 9 p.m. Friday, September 20 through 4 a.m. Monday morning, September 23, 2024. However, all I-580/I-680 connectors will remain open through right most lanes on southbound I-680. Caltrans encourages motorists to take alternative routes to alleviate traffic congestion within the construction work zone on southbound I-680 in the cities of San Ramon and Dublin.

In addition to full closures on southbound I-680, the far-left lane (Express Lane) and left shoulder will be closed on northbound I-680 between Amador Valley Boulevard in Dublin and Alcosta Blvd in San Ramon.

During the closure, the contractor will replace a portion of the existing deteriorated roadway with new pavement on southbound I-680, from Alcosta Boulevard to I-580/I-680 connector.

Detours for the closures are as follows:

  1. Motorists driving west on Interstate 80 in Vacaville and Fairfield will remain on I-80 to southbound I-880.
  2. Motorists on southbound I-680 near the Benicia Bridge can take I-780 west to I-80 to southbound I-880.
  3. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Concord can take SR-4 to I-80 to southbound I-880 or SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
  4. Motorists on southbound I-680 in Walnut Creek can take SR-24 to I-80 to southbound I-880.
  5. Motorists on Southbound I-680 in Danville take westbound I-580 to SR-238 to southbound I-880 or eastbound I-580 to SR-84 to southbound I-680.
  6. Full Shutdown Location: Saint Patrick Way on ramp onto southbound I-680
